Q & A
What does Holland Bloorview mean to you?
Back in the late 1980s, there was a place called Bloorview Children’s Hospital [before it amalgamated with the Hugh McMillan Medical Centre to become Holland Bloorview]. It used to be a home long term care facility. I lived there until I was 18 years old. The doctors I had when I was younger were excellent.
Why did you become a volunteer at Holland Bloorview?
I wanted to help people in any way I can because we are all in this community together. What I try to achieve when I’m here is to make sure everybody has a good time.
What are some of your favourite memories as a Holland Bloorview volunteer?
Meeting the Toronto Argonauts and Toronto FC. One year, they brought the cup when they won it. I took my picture with it. It was a dream of mine. In 1992 at the Bloorview Children’s hospital, the Toronto Blue Jay’s president visited with the World Series trophy.
What do you love most about Holland Bloorview?
I want to see kids successful and flourish. I love my volunteer services team. I’m extremely proud to be involved. Holland Bloorview changed my life for good.
