In November 2008, my brother and sister-in-law, Vito and Sandra Bigioni and husband and I, Peter Soumalias and Giorgina Bigioni, hosted a fundraising event with Canadian legendary musical recording artist Gordon Lightfoot to support children with disabilities at Holland Bloorview. This event was held in the hospital’s atrium. There were about 100 people in attendance, including our family, friends and clients from the Complex Continuing Care Unit, to enjoy exceptional food and music from the one and only Gordon Lightfoot. When Gordon started singing his song “If You Could Read My Mind”, it was a truly magical moment that our children, family and friends cherish. Many beautiful memories were created in the spirit of helping each other.
